Méribel Col de la Loze

An already mythical Alpine pass at an altitude of 2,304m facing Mont Blanc.

Col de la Loze

Le col de la Loze cycle route

This 7km route, which starts at 1,673m and ends at 2,304m, is reserved for bicycles, including road bikes and electric bikes. The route starts in the forest and then winds through alpine pastures with open views of le Mont Blanc, the Méribel valley and la Grande Casse.

Don’t be fooled by its incredible beauty – this is a challenging route with frequent changes in gradient, some of which are steeper than 20%. Dare you take on the Col de la Loze challenge?

Lying at the heart of les 3 Vallées, Méribel offers a unique mountain playground for road bikes and mountain bikes.

In partnership with its exceptional ambassador, Thomas Voeckler, Méribel will offer new, easily accessible cycle routes every summer. French cycling champion Thomas Voeckler is an icon of the Tour de France with 52 victories to his name, whom you can meet in Méribel during major cycling events. He is providing comments on these circular cycle routes, which are known as “les boucles de Thomas Voeckler”.

A legendary pass for keen road cyclists

Cyclists who enjoy pushing themselves will love the challenging profile of this pass! The new route perfectly follows the curves of the mountain and some bends are particularly steep. There are many changes in gradient, some of which are quite brutal. Cyclists will have to tackle one 23% incline before they can arrive at the pass. Their efforts will be rewarded by a majestic 360° view as well as the satisfaction of having climbed one of the most spectacular mountain passes of the Tour De France.

The mountains have become a whole lot more accessible thanks to electric bikes! Whatever your level, they allow you to cover vast stretches of the mountains which offer you varied and spectacular views. All cyclists, including families, can now go on an adventure from Méribel to Courchevel via Brides-les-Bains to have fun and discover le Col de la Loze, the 3rd highest pass in the Savoie after the Iseran and Galibier passes.

A spectacular alpine pass, part of the upcoming via 3 Vallées

The Col de la Loze is the first stage of a large-scale project that will allow you to tour les 3 Vallées along a continuous cycle path. Following on from this first section, Les Allues town council is working on the creation of a cycle route between Méribel Mottaret (1,750m) and the summit of Tougnète (2,437m) in order to link Méribel to the Belleville valley (Les Menuires and Val Thorens).
