What can you do in Méribel to spice up your winter family holidays?

At last! The winter holidays are here! After months of impatience, you and your happy little tribe are finally settled into a cosy apartment in the heart of the 3 valleys in Savoie. But wait… this won’t be your ordinary skiing holiday! As much as you’re looking forward to discovering the largest ski area in the Alps, you’re also thirsty for unusual adventures… And good news! This family-friendly resort is full of out-of-the-ordinary experiences.

So, what can you do in Méribel to spice up your family’s winter holidays?

1/ Ride the Méribel toboggan runs of Méribel :

Because it’s so good to be a kid again for a moment, it’s time to get out the sledges! Whether during the day or at nightfall, there’s something for everyone. Older children can speed down long runs, while younger children can discover the joys of sliding in free, safe areas.

Day or night sledging?

  • Sledging in the daytime :

For the Black Forest mission, the elves need you! The sorcerer Galdwick has had a terrible vision: the imminent revolt of the goblins. In order to thwart this threat and protect the people of the Forest of Arbin, the wizard must choose the family of elves who will carry out this mission. Take on the role of these elves and race down 3.4 km of snow track through 28 bends to save the Winda tribe. Thrills guaranteed!

And for fun with younger children, opt for La luge du Doron ! This specially-designed slope offers a dedicated course for sledges, providing a gentle glide down a gentle slope, with the option of an easy ascent thanks to the free carpet.

You can also explore the Altiport sledging area, a dedicated and safe environment specially designed for toddlers.

  • Night-time sledging :

Tempted by the magic of a night-time experience? For an evening under the stars, discover Himalaya by night, on the green Little Himalaya piste. This descent promises 2 km of laughter in the Yéti Park, immersed in a magical atmosphere in the heart of the mountains. The activity is free for children under 11, accompanied by an adult.

2/ Explore snow-covered landscapes on horseback:

What could be a more enchanting way to discover Méribel’s natural surroundings than on horseback? Immerse yourself in a breathtaking panorama on a carriage ride to Lake Tuéda, or explore the Altiport forest on the back of these majestic animals.

The Ranch Nordique welcomes visitors all year round. It offers a wide range of activities for young and old alike: taster rides, pony-sledge, etc. The more intrepid can try their hand at ski joëring, a discipline that combines skiing and horse-drawn carriages.

Les attelages Molinas invite you to enjoy a picturesque experience with sleigh rides through the Altiport forest.

3/ Have fun at the Méribel ice rink's parties:

Whether it’s disco, foam, fluorescent or electro, now’s the time to shine on the ice with your best style! During the school holidays, night-time parties are held every Thursday from 8pm to 10pm, promising a fun time.

Located in the centre of Méribel, within the Parc Olympique sports complex, the ice rink is a playground open to all. And the icing on the cake is that entry is completely free for children under 5.

4/ Enter the world of a trapper:

Ready to become the Davy Crockett of the new generation? Then don your marmot fur hat and mittens for a snowshoeing trip like The Revenant (but luxury version) !

Igloo and snowshoes at Méribel :

Trapper's nocturnal adventure: build an igloo with your children!

If you’re looking for a real trapper’s experience and want to eat a traditional Savoyard recipe in an igloo, then the “exceptional evening in an igloo” is for you!

After a snowshoe hike of around an hour through the Altiport forest, lit by the soft glow of the moon and headlamps, you’ll reach a clearing where the igloo is located. Once comfortably seated, enjoy a Reblochon fondue prepared by your guide, accompanied by Savoie wines or apple juice. Flavours handed down from generation to generation!

And on the way back down, let yourself slide in the powder on a fun itinerary devised by your guides.

And because we take afternoon tea at 4pm seriously here, Raquett’Evasion invites you to enjoy a chocolate fondue in an igloo!

Trappeur kids :

Hunt for animal tracks, mountain survival, orienteering, Igloo party… The Méribel ESF offers half-day snowshoeing excursions to introduce children aged 5 to 13 to the mysteries of the mountains.

Whether your little adventurers are novices or budding experts, they’ll leave with their heads full of memories and their rucksacks full of knowledge.

The instructors will guide the children through fun activities, encouraging learning while stimulating their natural curiosity.
