Canyoning

Canyoning at Via Ferrata one of the star summer activities at Méribel. Participants greatly appreciate the combination of jumps, abseiling down the waterfalls and glding into the water on natural slides. Why is this so? Because this activity, which begin at th start of the 90s, is fun, easy, thrilling  and is not time consuming. Canyoning takes place at two sites: at Pussy (30 km from Méribel) for 1/2 day sessions and at Montmin (near to Faverges) for full day sessions. The canyons are extremely close to route departure points; the first dip will be jusr after 5 to 15 minutes of walking.

Recommended for families – children from the age of 10 years can participate – these water treks include jumps (not mandatory) ranging from 2 to 8 metres in height. Thrills guaranteed! This magnificent setting is reminiscent of the Amazon: humid, very green with plenty of trees.

What is the water temperature? In summer, around 14°C. Don’t panic! Little time is spent in the water, focus is primarily given to jumps. Once the first jump has been completed, the suit will warm you up!

What equipment do you need for canyoning? Each customer must wear a 5 mm neoprene wetsuite with elbow, knee and bottom protection, a helmet, a harness and neoprene liners to be placed in shoes. All equipment is provided. This activity is completed in groups of 8 persons or more.

The canyons are very close to the trailheads, with the first swim occurring after a 5 to 15-minute walk.

Recommended for families – children can participate from age 10 – these aquatic hikes offer jumps (optional) ranging from 2 to 8 meters. Thrills guaranteed! The stunning environment resembles the Amazon: humid, lush, and densely forested.
